Will i damage my engine if i run 3 cyls out of 4 for ’10 minutes’?

My 1991 Ford Escort 1.9L Auto needs a Helocoil on Cylinder #3. After i get the Fuel Pump, Steering Colum and Spark Plug wires and Mirrors on it (parts car disassembled and not sold forparts, now the gotta go back in) i will have 3 out of 4 wires andplugs in/on the engine.

Ive become weary of engine workings after a freak accident that took my other 1991 Escort SWs life. So i have the following questions abiut running the car with Cylinders 1, 2, and 4:

1) Will it run well enough to drive '1 mile' (about 6 stops and slow-sowns to get from where it is to where its going, 2 lights) or not?

2) Will i screw up the engine, including the plugs, in -any way- by not firing Cylinder #3? As in...

- Mess up Cylinder #3?
- Kill my Head?
- Kill my Spark Plugs (im buying brandy new out of the bix Bosch =latinum +2s making sure the gap is right 1st) by doing that?

Im not paying a tow guy to tow it 5 blocks. I wonder if i can drive it there like that and -then- drive it back Helicoiled and running right (unless this 10 minute trip will screw it up,) or if i should do it at all(not do it?)

And will they have to clean the brand new spark plugs? Or should i put in premium octane fuel? (Not much old gas in tank but it is low, after fuel pump install) to offset anything..

Thanks
... So it -will- mess up the engine? ......... This was my question lol...

  1. LeAnne says:

Unplug the injector and go for it. It’s no worse than a typical engine skip.

  2. Harley guy says:

You could pay $ 70.00 to have it towed or you can pay $ 3000.00 to get a new engine. The choice is yours
