My boss called me and he said to pack up and leave. I didn't know what was happening then. Fortunately, there was a television in the break room which I turned on immediately. As soon as I saw images, I saw a video of the second plane crash into the Twin Towers. I was completely frozen. For a few minutes, I stood there in front of the television while thoughts raced in my mind. I suddenly found myself in the middle of chaos and confusion. I packed up and left for home. Unfortunately, everyone else was in a rush too. I got home 3 hours later which was just too much since it only took me 30 minutes tops. So many questions left unanswered. Somehow, I suddenly felt vulnerable. Unsafe. Unprotected. I was scared and the horror didn't go away instantly. I was in my office in San Francisco fixing our server. I watched as it continued downtown, and then veered upward into the WTC. I ran inside my building, and alerted others. When the second plane hit, I left my office, and watched from the street. When the first building collapsed, i left my office for fear that the Empire State Building may be hit, and began walking to the Bronx, caught a bus, then a train, and finally got home in Ct. at 3:00, about 5 hours later. I never turned back to look, because it was far too emotional. I lost 2 friends in the attack. The President of the university pulled me and several others out of class, told us what happened, and to go to the teaching auditorium to watch. What amazed me is that later, when the discussion came up in class, many of the students and working professionals that were studying there said the Americans deserved it, that we had it coming. I decided then and there that relations between the US and Mexico really suck, and made it a point of deciding that all the illegals should get the hell out of the USA if that is how they feel about their neighbors. Sorry, timed out. Anyway, a friend of mine died in the first WTC building. My brother and ex-sister in law were supposed to be there ( in both buildings!!) that day but were late.
