I'm very scared & worried.

Every time I try to cook on the stove (no matter which burner) & the oven, even if it's on the lowest of low, everything starts smoking & sometimes the alarm goes off. But I basically only cook on 1 of them. Now, that 1 does the same thing.

Now, I can't cook anything. This happened before, & I called the maintenance man to help solve the problem. It was like magic! He used some sort of spray that looked like WD-40, but I wasn't sure what it was.

Another time, I saw him & asked him what he used, & he said, "Some kind of spray you use to clean the engine (or he may have said tires) of your car that helps get rid of the grease I don't know the name of it.", or something like that.

So, I've been trying to clean the house. I have to microwave everything since I can't cook. I researched online & asked around here on Y!A if WD-40 was what he was probably talking about since he said he didn't know the name of it. WD-40 has the website where it advertises over 2,000 uses. & it did mention about being able to use it on the oven & the stove.

Just now, I read the directions (I have reading comprehension problems) & sprayed it on there. I think I sprayed WAY too much. & I read ONCE again, & it said it was flammable & not to use near pilots.

I feel like my life is ruined, & I'm afraid to go to sleep. I'm gonna have the light on. I think I made a HUGE mistake. I also feel afraid that if the house gets caught on fire, & I DO survive, then I might get evicted.

I feel so HORRIBLE. I don't mean to sound dramatic. But I'm just saying how I feel about the situation. I suffer anxiety disorder.

I was microwaving some noodles, & I heard some squeaky noise. I was afraid that that was the smoke alarm starting to go off. So, I freaked out & panicked. My stove is electric, too.

***Sorry to post this 3 times in 3 different sections, but I'm having an anxiety attack. SEVERE! & in the other 2 sections, I see the most recent question was posted over an hr. ago. & I'm afraid I won't get answers.

PostHeaderIcon small bridge building with utility poles?

I need to build a bridge across a 20' wide stream.
My idea is to use 30' utility poles, 2+2 where vehicle tires would be, and rough saw 2x? decking.
It is for a driveway so it must support things like the oil delivery truck and (God forbid) fire trucks.

I have available 6 slightly used poles. There will be no support in the center, just the 5' on each side of the stream and the 20' span.

I need some data as to what these poles are capable of supporting with that kind of load.

PostHeaderIcon Mack truck, racoons, McDonalds & fuel costs?

Couple of weeks ago I bought an old single rear axle Mack truck. It's a little rough -- rt window is stuck down, interior is shot, tires are slick and it smokes like it's on fire. Me and my buds have managed to take off the 5th wheel and bolted on an old Ford truck bed. Sixteen can of red spray paint and a jolly roger painted on the grille make it the baddest pick-up in the whole state. I cracked up an awning in Mcdonalds drive through last week and a racoon got inside and ate some chips (long story, see 360 blog). Is there any way to cut down on the fuel this thing uses?? I drove it to the beach and back and it cost me dang near .00!! I guess I'm getting about 8 miles a gallon. Is this normal? I love the fact that I've got the biggest pick-up in the county but DANG -- I'll have to hijack a tanker truck to drive it through the summer at this rate. Help!
I don't know about writing a song but I have been thinking about writing a dang book about my life (if I live long enough...)

PostHeaderIcon Can you help me with my truck problem (93 Nissan starting issues)?

this problem is baffling me! Im getting very desperate now so i hope someone can help me. heres the info:

My light pickup truck (93 nissan) starts up fine in the morning when i go to work. (i deliver in it) but as soon as i turn it off and try to start it back up again it wont start. i dont really hear firing either. so usually i try to push start it and it fires up. when it does i can smell that the engine was flooded (heavy gas smell) but it does start running again. but if i were to turn the truck off i wouldnt be able to start it. i would just hear the starter motor going and no firing. now if let the truck sit for a few hours i (maybe) can start it up using the starter. and i have no idea why any of this is happening. it doesnt make sense to me. why does the truck start in the morning. but not start 10 minutes later. why does it not start 10 minutes later but then can be push started?

i have brand new gas in it. brand new plugs.

also occasionally on days when i get it started up sometimes around second gear it sputters bad like its only firing on 3 cyl. it goes away once i give it some gas. then sometimes never comes back that day.

winter is coming and i need this truck to work so bad. i cant even buy new tires for it. because i dont want to waste the money and once i turn the truck off at the tire place it will be stuck there. please help. thanks.

PostHeaderIcon Are there any grants available for restoring an old 1954 model Mack firetruck?

The firetruck was one of the first in our city and has been given to the museum located here. The fire truck in in need of new tires and a fresh paintjob. The museum has let the firetruck stay out in the weather and the paint has faded. There may be some other maintenance issues to address once we get into the problems. The firetruck has a 50 ft. ladder on top,a squirreltail hard suction hose that wraps around the front of the unit.the firetruck is a gas burner. It has a 300 gallon water tank on it with a 750 gpm pump. It has an open cab on it. We are considering taking the unit and putting it in it's own building. The firetruck has a lot of local history behind it. I started at the Fire Dept. about 30 years ago and we used it as a back-up pumper. Our local museum is strapped for monies and we would appreciate any assistance in this matter. Thank you.

PostHeaderIcon What’s wrong with my car – Poor engine performance at low rpm after wiring repairs?

A while back I had trouble with my Ford Focus ZX-5 2004. It started miss-firing some cyclinders. Mechanic found corroded / damaged wires for ignition system. He patched them up and this fixed the problem for a couple of weeks, then it came back.

Went back he, and he was actually able to find a replacement wiring harness from Ford. He installed that.

Car is not miss-firing, but runs like CRAP... Going in reverse slow for example the car sputters and has to power unless I keep the Revs up. Same trying to drive around 100 km in 5th gear and trying to accelerate... no power.

The check engine light does not come on, but sometimes my transaxle transmission check light does.. at the same time sometimes the anti theft left goes nutty.

I don't want to bring the car back to same mechanic because I don't trust him anymore (also based on tires I bought which I really don't like).

Now maybe a new symptom since it got colder, the heater seems to blow cold air at low rpms.. rev the engine and I can get hot air.

He probably screwed up the wires again.. just trying to know if there is anything else obvious before going to a new mechanic.

PostHeaderIcon Motorcycle on second engine / transmission and still won’t run; suggestions?

Ok, about 3 months back I had a major malfunction on my '99 Kawasaki VN1500 Nomad. It stalled out on the freeway, but I managed to crank the engine back over and get down the road about 40 miles. It stalled out again on the off-ramp and this time would not start back up. After getting a jump and a long hold on the starter button I got it to kick over, and had a loud knock from the rear cylinder. Manage to get the bike back home in the bed of my truck and start to tear into the problem.

As long as the bike was jumped it would start, but have a loud knock. The original owner messed with everything under the 'hood' so my first thought was that it was a bad adjustment with the CDI box. I followed the tech manual (obtained from a kawa. service center) to test the CDI box, and finally just replaced it. Problem still occured, so I got an adjustable spark advance / timing CDI, didn't fix with any adjustment. Returned the box. Tested the compression (which was upped in the engine) and failed in the rear cylinder. Took the engine out and tested everyting in the rear cylilender. Everything passed.

Gave up and bought a salvage motor from a '98 VN1500 with half the miles on it and still in stock (not modified) condition. Manage to get it in the bike, fire it up asap to see if it works, runs just fine. Put the entire bike back together and jump start it. Runs fine. Take the cables off and start to pick up, bike dies. Try to jump the bike again and it wont start.

What do I do now? No point in trying to sell a used bike that won't run, especially after 00 worth of parts I put on it within the past 6 months (tires, paint, clutch, AutoCom, whole engine/transmission). Where do I look next for issues? What else is there left to replace?

PostHeaderIcon what is the quickest way to hotwire a police car?

do they have alarms? how do you disable the GPS? are they unlocked when they leave them running to check on something or while buying donuts? do they completely empty their contents when their shift is over or share the car with other officers? How much can you get for one on ebay or the aftermarket? how much for just the engine? the tires? anyone interested in purchasing something like this? What about a fire truck or an ambulance? same questions for one of those.
