Fire Dept Christmas parade decoration ideas?
Browse the site to learn more about how to buy a used truck, trucks sell, used trucks for sale, antique fire trucks and more
Every year, my fire department holds a Christmas parade where each of the companies decorate their apparatus with elaborate light-up panels on the side of the trucks. Now we also have a department bus that we also like to decorate and run in the parade. The thing is, we've used the same decorations for the past 3 years or so, we think it's time for a change. The OLD theme is the Smurfs, seen here:

Any ideas for the new decoration?
Music can't be heard over the sirens, but thanks for the audio suggestion =]
Firefighter Lights and Sirens?
Hello, I work for a volunteer fire department in Ohio and I am planning on buying some lights and sirens for my truck. I have a ford f150..I would like to have them concealed like in the grille or something like that. Also I was looking at wig wags.
The problem is i do not know what all i need to order, or what i should order, and are they easy to install by yourself?
Let me know if you have a personal emergency car and what lights and sirens you put in them, where you got them costs and anything else.
Please help me out
thanks

Weird Dream them pictures released?
Hello,
Last night I had this really weird dream for me, I was on vacation, not sure where, but I was staying in a really TALL hotel (I hate heights.) I remember seeing "25" floors on the elevator we used, we just so happened to be up at floor 25, and when the elevator stopped we walked straight into our room (no door no nothing), and a few things happened, there was this really young girl (about 2 years old) and a "babysitter", which I could probably relate that to me baby sitting the other day, but we were just hanging out in the room, when I look out the window and see a plane at a 90 degree bank left, coming down, and it went out of my view, so I said "Hold on guys, something might happen!". The people in the building looked at me weird and went "What?" as the building shook, we all ran to the elevator (I know, DO NOT USE ELEVATORS IN FIRES, but there were no stairs.). So as we were going down we stopped on floor 20 to catch one of my sisters best friends (Not sure why he was there) and he got on and we started to go back down, when the elevator stopped all of a sudden and one part continued to go down, till it was at a 45 degree angle, and I was holding on with everyone else, when we looked down and there was a glass wall, with a few girls on it reaching out to help us, as we slid down I looked out to see a fire about 2 blocks over, and I kept hearing sirens and trucks responding, as somehow my phone got knocked from my hand and fell out the window, I then remember saying, "Wish me luck" and slid out the window, which wasnt a long fall, despite that fact that it looked like a REALLY long fall when my phone went out the window. As I got down I grabbed my phone and looked up torwards my friends and the girls, as I felt a real intense heat behind me, as I turn I see fire, I begin to walk away when I see a fire truck and fire fighters coming up to me and pointing me to go away from the building, I then remember starting to run.. then I woke up...
Probably means nothing, but what made me think about this more, is I woke up today and found out that there were MORE 9/11 pictures released (arial views) Any ideas?
Are law enforcement agencies using EMT, fire, etc to be their lookouts?
I noticed this in Florida, especially, but it seems like more and more lately, fire trucks and ambulances roam around without their sirens on, or just sit parked on the outskirts of grocery store parking lots, seemingly being watchdogs for the police. I've also noticed them put on their sirens and blast and blare their way through traffic, only to turn into a store parking lot, loop around, and turn back out again---all for nothing. This happens a lot. What is going on?
Does anybody know anything abobut Midtown madness 2? (Check Details!?
Can you drive around for fun? Day, night setting? Graphics? Ambulance, Fire Truck, Police car. (Thats why I want it) Can you change the siren tones on the emergency vehicles, and are the lights and sirens seperate? I've seen videos of the game and it looks pretty cool and fun. I am buying it and I would like some comments on it, and my questions answered.
Thanks, Daniel ARFDR57
Dream interpreters-what does this mean?
I arrive at a gothic mansion I have just bought with 3 strangers, we're having a house warming party when I decide to look around. I'm on the 3rd floor when I see a door that wasn't there before, I open the door and there's a long hall lined with doors, I open one door and there's a skeleton, I open the next and there's a half decomposed corpse, I close the door and run outside. Once outside the ground begins to shake and cracks open and the mansion grows from 3 storeys to 9. After this I hear sirens and run inside just in time to see fire truck leaving from underneath the mansion, I go to a window and see with horror that the mountains in the distance are ablaze. A short while later I hear the fire truck return I run to the carpark under the mansion and gaze in terror as disfigured, charred corpses and skeletons look at me pointing and smilling manically, I run out of the carpark and wake up.
can you help me to correct this?
A Storm to be remembered
At five o'clock in the evening on an October day, not unlike any other, it was windy but clear outside. Then suddenly, the clouds began moving in. It got really dark and started thundering and raining. Streaks of lightening were reflecting on the windows. The wind began to whirl loudly and then it blew even harder. I heard the loud noise of a tree breaking outside. This was a storm to never be forgotten.
I was watching TV with my mom and sisters when suddenly, the power went out. It was so dark in the house that I couldn't see anything. We had to use flashlights to get around in a small and cold apartment. I’m glad we had flashlights. My mom suggested that we all go into the basement. But we decided that it wouldn't be a good idea since we wouldn´t be able to hear very well down there.
I looked outside, it was so dark and gloomy and the rain was coming down very hard. I could hear rain drops hitting the window. Blue flashes of lightening kept shining through the window. All of us were quiet and calm except for my sister. She was so frightened of the lightning that she jumped on the couch and put her hands over her ears.
There was a knock on our door. When we opened it, a fireman was standing there. The fireman was a tall muscular dark-haired guy. That was a little bit under 6 ft. He came to report the fire that was outside of our house.
The fireman asked us if we had anywhere to stay the night since it was unsafe. We said that we didn't, and that we couldn't call anyone because the phone wasn't working. It was a very --------scene ;The power line which was above several trees in front of our house was on fire. Sparks of fire were running through the power the line, and obscure smoke was in the air. The fireman walked slowly off the porch to report the news to the other neighbors. Then he got in the fire truck put on the sirens and proceeded to take off.
My brother arrived and told us that he came over to check on us because no one answered the telephone. He lives on the other side of town and wasn't affected by the storm. He decided to take us to stay at his house until the storm was over. We stopped of on the way to buy some blankets and pillows and since we hadn't eaten anything yet, we went to Mc Donald’s to get a hot meal. While we were at my brother's house, we played board games and watched the local news. In addition, we watched movies, ate popcorn, and talked to each other all night. My mom decided to go next door and play bingo with her friend since she really didn't care to watch movies or play any of the games. We played the board games for a couple more hours, and then went to sleep. I'm glad we had somewhere to go during the storm, rather than staying home in a dark house.
The following morning, we awoke and ate the breakfast that I prepared. I decided to cook, since my brother had a long day at work and had stayed up all night with us. Later, we packed our things to return home.
When we arrived at our house, the neighborhood was a disaster; there were trees and branches everywhere. In front of our house was the huge tree that had fallen, and the power line was hanging down in the street. It was so hard for anyone to walk on the sidewalks that when they passed by, they walked in the street. The streets were so full of tree branches that it was very hard for cars and people to pass through. A lot of the cars on the street had to be moved to other locations. The next door neighbor was so upset that she called the city. Her son uses the yellow school bus and it wouldn't be able to pass through the debris on the street to pick him up.
My mom was disappointed because she had just brought groceries and all of the food in the fridge had spoiled because the electricity was out. We waited about 2 hours for the people to come to restore the power. It was a great thing that we had flashlights to use for seeing around the house. Later, my brother took us to the store to buy more groceries, helped us with the house cleaning and picked up some of the branches and rubbish that was in the yard. After he said goodbye to everyone and left, my mom, my sisters, and I looked at each other, thinking that even though we had been through a bad storm, we were happy that we were all safely together.
That day everything was back to normal. It was hot and the sun was shining just like there had never been a storm. The power was back on and everything was working properly again. All was quiet and calm. The only sound was of the cars passing by. The landlord came to remove the big tree that had fallen and the power people came to repair the downed power lines. Even though the noisy neighbor seems to worry about everyone; she was very helpful by calling someone to help during the storm.
my neighbors daughter hung…?
i get home go to the restroom and hear screaming...once im done i go look out the window and there is a fire truck. i didn't think anything of it because our neighbor is handy capt from being in iraq so she falls time to time and there to get up and such. well then i see emt's more fire trucks, cop cars and such so i go to walk over there to ask if she wanted me to watch her lil pooch (which my husband and i do often) i look and her car isn't there.
i peak around and her daughter is hanging in the garage by a dog leash!! i was in utter shock. her best friend came running to me crying for support. i was having a hard time getting things together in my mind all i could hear was sirens and she hung herself, she hung herself! im thinking wtf happened, wtf, wtf, wtf where is her mom?? they couldn't find her mom, she has no cell phone (which is nuts)
i had talked to her mom a couple of times about her daughter and she said she was troubled and she told me a few things but she called them "typical" teenager things. well...i didn't think those were "typical" things but who am i to judge? im only 20 and have no kids. after her mom told me those things i was worried for her daughter and i was going to confront her daughter to let her know that mine and my husbands doors are always open if she needs talking to. im an X drug user sober 5 years and if she needs to talk im more than happy too, i will do my best to understand and all ears are open. i didn't because maybe it was to personal and its her mom and surely she'd be there for her.
well what felt like 10 minutes, they got a pulse. emt told me they didn't think she was going to make it from the look in her eyes she looked brain dead and her pulse was VERY weak.
they talked to me a questioned me about the mother and things ive seen go on over there. which i have seen a lot but kept my nose out of it of course.
im so worried, i haven't heard anything from the mother yet. im still watching there dog. i don't know if shes okay or what state shes in. im really worried. in utter shock and i don't understand.
hanging yourself isn't a cry for help! i don't think anyways. it means you just want to be dead. trying to over dose and cutting your wrists is a cry for help. which she did have cuts on her wrist and such. (her mom has told me she isnt going to pay attention to her daughters BS) i feel sad about that!
i've heard about people killing themselves but i never really thought about it or took it to heart till i saw my neighbors daughter with a chain around her neck.
why do people do this? why do people just want to end there lives? why cant people understand that life isn't always easy and you are in a fight everyday to get to the top and things will get better over time.
and if she does come home from the hospital alive and safe i was thinking about buying her a gift and asking if i can talk to her and just let her know that i'll be here. my heart goes out to her in every way possible. would that be wrong of me what do you think?
sorry i explained the whole thing. i haven't been able to talk about it.
this essay its correct? its a narrative and descriptive essay?
Storm to be Remembered
paragraph 1. In the month of October, not like any other day, it was windy, but clear outside. It started thundering and raining. It got really dark outside, and the clouds began moving. Streaks of lightning were reflected in the windows, and I could hear the loud noise of a tree breaking outside. The wind was whirling and making a loud noise. The wind started blowing even harder; this was a storm to never be forgotten.
paragraph 2. It was five o'clock at night, and I was watching TV with my mom and sisters. Then the electricity went out. It was so dark in the house; I couldn't see anything. We used flashlights to get around the small crowded house. My mom suggested we all go in the clammy basement, but we decided that wasn't a good idea, since we couldn't hear as well if we went down there. When I looked outside it was dark and gloomy. The clouds appeared black and gray. It was raining very hard; I could hear rain drops hit the windows. The noise was so loud it sounded like someone was taping the outside of the windows. Then I saw lightning and blue flashes that kept showing on the windows.
paragraph 3. All of us were quiet and calm except my sister. She was scared of the lightning. She was so frightened; she jumped on the couch and put her hands over her ears. Suddenly, there was a knock on our door. We opened the door quickly, a fireman was standing there. The fireman was a tall muscular dark-haired guy. That was a little bit under 6 ft. He came to report the fire that was outside of our house. The fireman asked us if we had anywhere to stay for the night, since it was unsafe. We said no. We couldn't call anyone because the phone wasn't even working. Then he say said, “Ok”, and ran quickly down the stairs, and went to the next house. He got in the fire truck, put on the sirens and proceeded to take off. It was a very shocking scene; the power line which was above several trees in front of our house was on fire. Sparks of fire were running through the power line, and obscure smoke was in the air.
paragraph 4. Later, my brother showed up at the house. He told us he called several of times, but no one had answered. After my brother seen how the storm effected us, he drove us to McDonald’s to get hot tasty value meals and cold drinks in his classic red Pontiac. Since we had not eaten anything that night, we were starving. Next we went to stay at my brother's apartment until the storm was over. He took us to the store to buy some blankets and pillows. He had just moved in his house, so he didn't have too much linen. During the time that we stayed at my brother's, we watched the local news. In addition, we watched movies, ate popcorn, and talked to each other all night. My mom decided to go next door and play bingo with her friend, since she really didn't care to watch movies or play any of the games. We played the board games for about a couple more hours then went to sleep. I'm glad we had somewhere to go during the storm, which I prefer any day than staying home in a dark house. On the following morning, we awoke and had a simple breakfast at my brother's house. I cooked pancakes and made some fresh brewed coffee, since my brother had a long day at work and was up all night with us. We got our things packed for our return home.
paragraph 5. When we arrived at our house, the neighborhood was a disaster; there were trees and branches everywhere. In front of our house was the huge tree that had fallen. The street was full of clutter, it looked as if piles of rubbish was everywhere. The power line was hanging down in the street. The tree branches were on the sidewalks and in the streets, it was very hard for cars and people to pass through. The neighbor that lives next door was so bothered she called the city because her son rides the yellow bus and the bus had to pick him up in another location. Subsequently, we waited two hours for Consumers Energy to arrive. Thankfully, we had flashlights to use to see around the house. All our food had spoiled in the house since the fridge was not working properly, because the electricity was out. My brother took us to get groceries immediately, since my mom was disappointed and angry because she had just bought groceries.
paragraph 6. Afterwards, he sat down with us for an hour. We talked and watched some TV. We continued watching the local news to make sure we were informed of anything new. In the meantime, my brother helped us with the house cleaning and picked up some rubbish that were in the yard. After that, he said goodbye to everyone and left. Me, my mom, and sisters looked at each other thinking: even though we were in a bad storm we were happy that we all were together safe.
paragraph 7. Finally, everything was back to normal. The sun was gleaming, the weather was hot and everyone was enjoying it. All was silent and relaxed, all one could hear was cars passing by. The power was back on and everything was working properly
can you interpret my dream (really weird)?
ok first i was hookin up with miley cyrus (idk y.. random) then i remember being on a road with sirens (ambulances, police, fire trucks) and dead dears everwhere and in the middle of the road there was a bright yellow motorcycle laying on the ground.
then i say my best friend and i said "yo dude what happend was it a motorcycle accident cus i saw a yellow bike layin on the ground" and he says "nah thats just ronald mcdonalds bike".... uhhh lol once again random.
then i said yo i hooked up with miley cyrus and hes like "for real" then i said "yeah man.. and my birthday is in a month and shes gunna buy me a new motorcycle!!! cus shes rich" haha and the worse part was i was mad when i woke up
What is the purpose of all the different siren sounds on an emergency vehicle?
Police cars , ambulances, and fire trucks all haves some crazy sounding sirens noises. Are they used for different emergencies or places or what?
Why is it in countries like Belgium and Germany ambulances have airhorn sirens?
As I can see in youtube videos, ambulances in belgium and germany have airhorn sirens fitted to the ambulance itself. As I know it is used to warn traffic much better (since airhorns are louder); but is there a disadvantage to using airhorns in ambulances? but why do european fire trucks use airhorn siren (w/o deafening the passengers)?
Does anyone have a dog that howls at fire engine sirens. If so do you know why?
When ever a fire engine drives bye my house with its sirens on my dog looks around them moves her head side to side as if she dosent know what it is. Then she starts to howl. Why is this.
I presume it has something to do with their descendance from wolfs/wild dogs. Any one have another view on this.
