Engine not starting Honda xl100s 1983?
Browse the site to learn more about how to buy a used truck, trucks sell, used trucks for sale, antique fire trucks and more
Hey, I have a honda xl 100s 1983 model. I bought it used and not running a few months back for a good price.
So far I removed the left engine cover and discovered that the bolt on the flywheel was missing and also that the woodruff key had sheared apart. I replaced both.
At this point I was getting a good spark, but no fuel.
I then opened the carb. Sure enough, it was very gunky/gummy. Fixed.
Now there is a spark, the spark plug is wet with fuel, but nothing happens after I screw the plug in and try to start it. No firing at all.
Anyone have an idea on what the next step should be? I'm very much an amateur at mechanics, so if I missed something obvious, shout it out.
How do you know if your Acura is recalled?
I have a 2008 Acura TL, how do I find out if it's included in the recall. According to recalls information possible engine fire and wiper blades could stop working. I bought the car used from an independent dealership, would I still get a letter from Honda. I don't have an Acura near me, or any number I can call? Any help, thanks.
HELP!! Can you help me fix my car?? Vacuum leak?
Hi everyone! I have a 2000 Honda Civic SI and the RPM's are running pretty low- below 1000. My check engine light is on. I took it to a mechanic and he said that his machine is reading that its the oxygen sensor- he changed both (twice to make sure one wasn't faulty) and the light is still on. The machine at Autozone gave a code for o2 sensor or vacuum leak. I'm guessing its a vacuum leak? How can I check and fix it? People have told me to spray the hoses with wd40 or H20- but then someone said the fluid would be sucked into the engine and hurt the car or catch it on fire. Isn't there a vacuum sealant that you can buy to fix it or should I change the hoses? I am pretty good at figuring things out- but I just need some guidance. Any help would be greatly appreciated! So-
1) is it the 02 sensor making my car idle low?
2) Do you think its a vacuum leak?
3) How can I check my vacuum hoses?
4) How do I fix my vacuum hoses?
5) What else could make my car idle low?

Obama wants ideas for job creation. How?
Every year we give 19 billion in foreign aid. For them to do with what they please and no strings attached. Seems to me that we should put a stipulation on that money. If that money is to be used for things such as infrastructure, food and such, they should be made to buy any of that stuff that is available here in the country that is helping them. For instance, when these countries buy new ambulances, police cars, fire trucks or general government vehicles, they should be required to buy those from GM, Ford or Chrysler, not Nissan, Toyota, Mitsubishi or Honda. I have been to many of these countries in my military career and not one uses our goods except Israelm but Israel doesnt need our money. Heavy equipment for the building of bridges, roads and such should be bought from CAT, John Deere, CASE or another U.S. manufacturer. Foods should also be bought from us. Just a simple idea that will not go through. Good idea or not?
Problem with my Honda CB350 on running correctly-please help?
Hi,
I have a 1970 Honda CB350 that doesn't run right. It was given to me to keep if I could get it running, and so I worked onm it a while and got it to run. But there is one problem...When I start it, only the left piston fires, leaving the right one not firing at all.
So I took the spark plug out on the right side, held it in my hand and kicked the engine over, and it didn't shock me at all. So, I assumed that the coil was bad and bought one on ebay. Well, days go by and I finally got it in the mail, I put it on the bike, hooked it all back up, and started it. Well guess what---same thing. Only the left side fired. So I cleaned all of the connections that hook up to the coil, and tried starting it again. But when I started it this time, both pistons fired together for about 5 secs, and the right one quit firing again. So I killed the engine, started it again, and held my hand around the spark plug cap, and felt for a shock, and only got a good shock here and there. Help! PLZ!

Swapping engines, any tips for bringing an engine out of mothballs and back to life?
Got a '87 CBR 600 F1, original engine burned way way too much oil. Was all set to do a rebuild when a mechanic at the Honda dealer offered me an F1 engine he had used in a go-kart he built, but had removed it cos it wasn't powerful enough for his creation. It's been in a heated basement for 2 years. The owner of the dealership vouches for the guy (who vouches for the engine) and he's never steered me wrong in the 4 years I've known him. Bought the engine for 0, picking it up tomorrow morning (Wed). Any thoughts on what I might want to do to this engine (short of taking it apart, already did that to the old one, want to get riding again fast) to help it get fired up again? Anything I SHOULDN'T do? Relatively new to engines. Thanks!
