Engine coolant turned to slush! Wont stay running.?
Browse the site to learn more about how to buy a used truck, trucks sell, used trucks for sale, antique fire trucks and more
I just bought a bad lifted1980 F250! (Carbureted) With a 351 that’s worked! It was running great until I had a small electrical problem. Before I got around to fixing it the weather got really cold about 17*. Some coolant leaked out of the bottom end. It was slush that leaked out, and slush in the hoses. It warmed up a couple days later, and I got it to turn over again. Now it starts, but only when I have the throttle all the way to the floor. Once I take my foot of it shuts down, and sometimes back fires. It also shoots flames out of the carb, and just dosnt sound right. IM FREAKING OUT!
Is this just a carb- fuel problem or did it crack the block.
I spent all my savings on this new toy please Help me! If you don’t think its a cracked block what do u think it is. (Choke, fuel pump?) Etc.
If you had to, would you know how to use a fire extinguisher?
I had to break the glass & use one once to help put out a car engine that was on fire in front of the building.
I actually meant to ask my SCs... not all the kids.
Patti - that is interesting... We had training where I worked by the FD -- a huge tray with several gallons of blazing gasoline - some could not put it out w/the wall extinguisher..
it is actually not that easy... since you must get under the flames & heat.
Used Carburetor Backfiring out the Carb?
I went and got an old carb off an 83 toyota mine is an 87. Both are the same engines and carbs. But when I placed the used carb on my truck and bolted it in and everything cranked it up it started back firing. Flames would come out of the carb. I may have not hooked up the vaccuum lines correctly.. Can someone please tell me what is wrong with it?
Creative idea for forest fire prevention. Can you evaluate.?
Punch in cheap m-80 sized explosive devices onto trees 10 feet high with a custom pole nail gun.(3 seconds per tree at various intervals). Use a sound detector tower(above tree line) every 10 square miles with solar power charger.
When forest fire erupts, devices go boom, sound detector can track direction and approximate distance. Fire trucks pull up before flames get WAYYY out of hand. Or I just thought of this.. Why not just have a single sky balloon with solar power to use a camera to detect infrared and smoke rising above tree lines every 1000 square miles?
5 grams of ANY explosive will merely knock the bark off a large tree.
Selective critical areas with intermittent placement.
Stupid Car Question?
I'm basically car engine illiterate, so I apologize if this is a stupid question. I drive a 2002 Pontiac Grand Prix. A few days ago I spilled a little bit of oil as I was adding some. It resulted in a small fire as the engine was hot. Instinctively, I threw flour on the fire to smother the flames. It worked, but I ended up with flour residue burnt to some of the pipes of the engine...made it smell like flour was burning when I drove it. I bought some engine degreaser, sprayed it on, let it set, and rinsed it off. Then I started the car about 30-45 minutes later and there was a bit of smoke coming out, of the engine compartment, and it smelled like the degreaser and there was a sizzling sound, which i'm assuming was because the pipes were still wet. I'm assuming this is normal and that it is safe to drive. Is this a safe assumption or is this something i should be concerned about? Thanks!
Another Stupid Car Question?
I'm basically car engine illiterate, so I apologize if this is a stupid question. I drive a 2002 Pontiac Grand Prix. A few days ago I spilled a little bit of oil as I was adding some. It resulted in a small fire as the engine was hot. The fire burned for less than 5 minutes..basicall while I tried to find something to put it out with Instinctively, I threw flour on the fire to smother the flames. It worked, but I ended up with flour residue burnt to some of the pipes of the engine...made it smell like flour was burning when I drove it. I bought some engine degreaser, sprayed it on, let it set, and rinsed it off. Took it in for an oil change the next day.The residue has since burnt off, but now there seems to be some smoke coming from the oil dipstick. How concerned should I be about this?
Is it safe to drive a trip of 20 or so miles in the next few days?
A good way to set a car on fire?
This is for a fireworks show btw...I'm responsible for directing a little flick where a car is going to be engulfulled in flames at a local fireworks event, and then firefighters are going to come with their truck and put the flames out, of course the car is going to be empty of all fluids to maintain there is no explosion and all safety precautions have been taken in mind. I also must add that our state taxes are paying for this event. But what is the most effective way to completely fire up the car as quickly, safely, and efficiently as possible? What kinds of flammable substances should be used?
how much gas should i use?
i want to explode my engine out. I put a bomb in the battery. Should i cover the window or take it out 1st?
I put a small explosive shape charge on my engine to blow the engine out because i dont have any tools. I feel like i should do it in the garage so i dont make any noise and attract attention. I turned my heater off and brought a water bottle in case i set fire to the wood by accident. I also brought a snuggie, as it is cold outside. When i detonate my bomb, should i be worrieed about cracking my windshield? Also, is it advisable to pinch the fuel line somehow? Or will i be OK?
Also, what do i do if my car explodes? Can i put PB Blaster on the oarts that burn and reinforce the frame for when the fire department is done dousing my car? i want extra credit and a bravery check from Obama for trying to fight a fire, if it does actually engulf my car in flames. I hope it doesnt.
Should I put less homemade explosive (batteries and silly putty and gasoline) in the bomb? i cant buy any tools.
Thanks.Sincerely, - Joseph
I received an email that told me to forward it to as many people as possible for a good cause…is it fake?

What does my dream about my new house on fire mean?
In my dream me and my mother bought a new house in the country. It was beautiful...nice, medium, and simple. My family and friends of the family were there to welcome us into the new house. I walked onto the porch, and something fell off of me..like a peice of paper. It landed behind my ankle, and a fire started on the ground in place of it. I jumped back, and got off the porch and turned around to witness the whole house in flames in a matter of seconds. I called my mom (she wasn't there) and she told me she'd be there in a minute. I called 911 right after, and all of a sudden the fire stopped. I was bold enough to walk back onto the porch, and even into the house. There was a little fire damage but not much.
Suddenly, another spark caught my eye in the same place the fire started the first time, only this time I was inside. In a matter of seconds the house was engulfed in flames and I was in the middle. My only option was to jump through the flames and out the open door. My leg was on fire, so I dropped and rolled in the street. When I stood up, the fire trucks came and put the flame out.
If it helps..I'm 18.
Engine Degreaser?
I'm basically car engine illiterate, so I apologize if this is a stupid question. I drive a 2002 Pontiac Grand Prix. A few days ago I spilled a little bit of oil as I was adding some. I'm assuming this is normal and that it is safe to drive. Is this a safe assumption or is this something i should be concerned about? Thanks!
Also had a faint sizzling sound after I shut it off after rinsing, but i'm assuming that's because the pipes may have still had a little moisture in them.
How lont should it take for a fire department to get water on a fire, after arriving at the scene?
We had a small roof fire after the roofer fixed a leak. He used a torch to melt the membrain roofing. Once the fire trucks arrived (4 trucks 10-20 firemen) it took 15-18 minutes for them to get water on the fire. I was using my hose to control and knock out all visible flames. But I was stopped by the police and had to watch the fire reignite and cause more damage.
