so ok i bought my dads 1978 chevy pick up truck and it needs a lot of work on it which i am going to start on in a few days. BUT I wanted to try to figure out a color scheme for it so i know what i am going to do... so far from what i can tell it will be multi colored from getting a used cab and bed for it so i am planning on getting it all professionally done...

so here's the thing i don't want it too girl yet i want people to know that a girl is driving so pink is an option lol

also I am a tom-boy so i don't want to paint the whole thing pink...

i was thinking bout getting it all white with pink stars on each side going from the engine compartment back to the back tire... but im not sure!

i want something different but nothing too outrageous...

and here's a little bit more about me..

i can also be a girly girl at the same time..
im not afraid of getting my hands greathat's(thats why i am fixing the truck up lol)

I purchased a used car, as is no warranty about 2 and a half weeks ago. Got it, had it checked out..fine. Drove it for a day or so, oil spilling all over the manifold..potential fire hazard if the manifold gets hot enough. 5 to repair that. Few days ago, at the red light noticed it was acting funny..took it in to have it looked at...possibly the fuel injectors bad....came home today....engine knocking, oil light coming on but full of oil now then cuts off and some crap leaked all up under it; WTF??? I understand the "as is" crap most shady used car dealers hide under but when you buy a car, you buy it with the intentions that you will at least be able to drive it. I mean that is the purpose of the car and I may cant get them for lemon law but there has to be something i can get them for...something. I just want to let the whole upstate know that they are not crap and dont buy from them. Also i read about sending a complaint to consumer affairs for your state Does anyone know of anything else. This is ridiculous how these car dealers do this. They claimed they checked it out, had put it on the computer and it was fine. I knew that was a lie but it was okay for a few days. Now everything under the hood is going out. Any info?

Curious if I have a case against a negligent landlord. Here's the details: We moved into a rental house. Within a few days, we had PG&E come out and show us how to use the pilot light on heater. He said the gas heater was never cleaned in 50 years. He cleaned it as much as he could. Later that day, it caught fire. It blew smoke into our 6 month-old baby's room. There was a smoke detector in it, but it never went off (we tested it, and it did go beep). Fire trucks came and fixed furnace. We had a pro heater company come out,and said the hole thing was a health hazad - the dirtiest heater he's ever seen, electrical tape holding the ducts together, holes in pipes, plugged up gas stems (he said it could have exploded since it was collecting gas), and on and on. Landlord never installed all the fire alarms, and the ones installed didn't work. Also, water heater had an outtake for the fumes that was removed, so it was pushing carbon dioxide into house. Issues with electrical too. Thoughts?

Ok. It's a '98 vw beetle with a brand new battery and 3/4 tank of gas.

We lost power- one battery cable was very loose so we tightened it. Car would then start but idle with very low RPM and would immediately die if you hit the gas. After a few days of sitting, the engine won't fire and the engine seems to shake the whole car and sputter. We were told that it might be bad gas so we bought dry gas and put it in the tank today---didn't work. Could it be spark plugs? Fuel filter? Something else?

I bought it from a guy that runs a small engine shop(i.e. lawn mowers, small cc scooters, dirtbikes) and it didnt have a big high end kick like it should and he told me to clean air filter(did and it gave higher speed) and chip off carbon residue on the muffler AND/OR piston. it was kind of a blur on what he actually said to clean so i thought i'd ride it a while(4 weeks, 1 mile a day and 10-20 miles a couple times) to break it in. few days ago i thought "Hmmm, i wonder what he said" so i took the engine apart, cleaned everything, used 2stroke oil to lube up things and put it back together. (im thinking i screwed up by putting on the oil :imo:) i tested the spark. it has a clean tip aswell. compression is good. the primer bubble doesnt expand after pushing it in. any answers would be helpful. i use this to get to work, school and across the city.

I bought a used lincoln navigator from a used car dealer in my town. I put my truck up for collateral. I made one payment and expect my income tax in a few days and will pay the navigator off. That was the deal we made. Well first he told me there was a 3rd row seat folded down under the big fancy speakers that someone installed. Looked like it was there. Well when I moved the speakers a few weeks later there's no seat there. I asked him about it and he said I didn't think there was one there. Go to a junk yard. I'm like that's the reason I bought it to fit 8 people.also one of the seatbelts won't buckle making it un safe for one of my 2 children who sit back there in the car seats. Also the night I got it the dash board lights went out. Then a week later my taillights went out. Then my headlights went out. Then one day it wouldn't start and when I took the key out it then started on its own. Sometime it turns off when I stop. The brake tag is expired and the tint is too dark and lights don't work to get a new one. All the time since day one I keep going to him saying u need to fix this. He says I will then when I go back he's out of town. Its like he's only here 2 days a week. He had is personal mechanic look at it and the man said there was a wire shorting out that couldve caught fire and looked some more and said everything just about has been changed around and is done poorly. He also said that it shouldn't have been sold to me and that I should give it back. So I told the dealer what his mechanic said and he got mad saying his mechanic shouldn't have told me that and should have just checked the headlights and he didn't know anything. So I said well I don't want this car. He said hey y have u kept it for 2 months? I said I have repeatly told u to fix it and I asked him to put me in a different vechile. And I told him he keeps going out of town. So he said go home and come back tomorrow and ill let u borrow a vechile and get yours fixed. I said just let me use my truck and he said I can't I have a lean on it. I originally bought the truck from him 3 years ago with no problems. So I was expecting this. What can I do? I'm not sure what all was hidden in the fine print. But I'm wondering if I can break this deal and get my truck back legally? I only had this navigator for around 60 days. Also was it illegal for him to sell me something with the seatbelt not working and expired breaktag?also without the vehicle being able to get one with the tent so dark? Is that a loophole for me? I have a 100 percent warranty for 6 months but I know since a lot of parts or aftermarket it probally wont cover it all. Also he says someone normal would have went and paid the 60 dollars to have it put on a diagnosis machine. But I'm like hey I'm paying 7200 dollars I shouldn't have to pay 60 dollars for that. Also his mechanic told me today the man chewed him out and said he shouldn't tell customers anything and just tell him and let him tell what he wants. The mechanic said I told him hey that man has babies and his families life is in danger with that car and he has a right to know. What can I do?please any advice? I worked to jobs for 8 yrs 12-15 hour days and finally bought something nice(supposely) and I'm getting raped.

Okay, so I have dyed black hair and it is faded, so it's like a dark brown, but my roots are light. I have had my hair red before, like fire truck red ahaha, and I wanted to dye it orange. So a few days ago i went to sally's beauty and bought thee exact same brand of hair dye i used when i dyed my hair red, it is loreal i think and its for dark hair only so there is no bleaching involved. So i buy this loreal dye, the color is cooper. I put the dye on my hair and it only dyes my roots the orange color! I want my hair this color all over but i dont know if i should try to dye my hair a blonde ( because i dont want to bleach it) or what. so can anyone help ? thanks (:
My hair isn't damaged. I'm asking how I should lighten my hair so the color will show up, because my hair is obviously too dark.

I've been having a hell of a time with this es300. I got it in the beginning of march 2009, and since then have had to have the water pump and timing belt and gasket replaced, and then recently, I ran out of gas on the highway and the fuel pump went.

The day the fuel pump before i ran out of gas i had a situation with the car just starting in general. I let it sit for a few minutes then it started. Later I ran out of gas, someone came and hooked me up, it started and I went home. Then a few days later I went out to try to go somewhere and the car just wouldnt start.

I went to a junkyard and pulled a fuel pump, bought a new fuel filter and put all that in. I know the pump works because I can hear it when i put the car into the on position.

Basically, the car cranks, but will not fire at this point. We checked the fuel pressure, its great, then we checked the spark plugs, that doesnt appear to be the problem either. The injector pulse was intermittent, and the spark we got from the plugs are weak.

We are basically at a loss trying to figure out what next to check. We were thinking crankshaft position sensor or the ecm could be bad. We tried to manually get the check engine codes (however at no point before it died did a check engine light come on) and it didnt even blink or anything.

Does ANYONE know what we can do before we go out buying random parts to replace and what possible diagnostics we could run? Or is there something we aren't thinking of?

Note, I also put a new battery in it about a week or two ago. Any advice would grant you title as hero of the day.
all the wiring looks fine, nothings burnt or in bad shape. Whats really raising the red flag is there's no check engine code when we tried to retrieve it. We followed the instructions to jump the terminals in the diagnostic block in the engine compartment but it showed nothing. it didnt even blink and from what we read in the manual it should blink twice a second if there are no engine codes.

How can i test to know whether its cam crank or ecm?
we actually verified the belt isn't broken but havent look at time.

our guess was also possibly the computer but getting to it is a real problem without tearing stuff up a little bit. this car is put together all retarded-like.

I'm basically car engine illiterate, so I apologize if this is a stupid question. I drive a 2002 Pontiac Grand Prix. A few days ago I spilled a little bit of oil as I was adding some. It resulted in a small fire as the engine was hot. Instinctively, I threw flour on the fire to smother the flames. It worked, but I ended up with flour residue burnt to some of the pipes of the engine...made it smell like flour was burning when I drove it. I bought some engine degreaser, sprayed it on, let it set, and rinsed it off. Then I started the car about 30-45 minutes later and there was a bit of smoke coming out, of the engine compartment, and it smelled like the degreaser and there was a sizzling sound, which i'm assuming was because the pipes were still wet. I'm assuming this is normal and that it is safe to drive. Is this a safe assumption or is this something i should be concerned about? Thanks!

The fire burned for less than 5 minutes..basicall while I tried to find something to put it out with Instinctively, I threw flour on the fire to smother the flames. It worked, but I ended up with flour residue burnt to some of the pipes of the engine...made it smell like flour was burning when I drove it. I bought some engine degreaser, sprayed it on, let it set, and rinsed it off. Took it in for an oil change the next day.The residue has since burnt off, but now there seems to be some smoke coming from the oil dipstick. How concerned should I be about this?
Is it safe to drive a trip of 20 or so miles in the next few days?

I'm planning on dyeing my hair a bright, screaming, primary red, and cannot go to the salon (no money, no time). I know I'll have to bleach it first and wait a few days before putting the red in, yadda yadda yadda.

All I want to know is, what's the best dye to use? Manic Panic is the only brand I know of that sells a fire-engine red color, but I heard it fades out really really fast. I know most reds will fade quickly, but I heard Manic Panic colors overall fade out super quick.

Any other suggestions? Thanks!
p.s. wig is a bad idea, because I'm dyeing the top portion of my hair black, and want only the bottom half to be red. Thanks anyway =P

... or another truck? I know both are babe magnets but I need something to drive. My old rust-bucket Chevy S10 finally died on the way home today. It had been smoking really bad these last few days and I noticed that a lot of smoke was drifting up through the holes in the floor today so I drove really fast trying to clear out all the fumes when all of a sudden my engine just blew apart! I managed to get it to a stop (in the middle of the highway at 5 pm) and the dang thing caught fire and burned to a cinder. Man, were those people that had to wait behind me ever mad! You never saw such a traffic jam. Anyway, I've thought about buying a bike this time because it would be a lot easier to push when it breaks down. Any suggestions? (I have a lot of bad luck with cars/trucks -- see my 360--)
Yeah, they stopped traffic in both directions for almost two hours while the fire dept. hosed down my truck. I'm sure some of the locals recognized my old P.O.S. truck and were hollering and cussing like madmen (and women). I know where there's and old dump truck for sale -- it would make a GREAT tailgate party truck in football season but I don't know if I could afford to drive it.

Also had a faint sizzling sound after I shut it off after rinsing, but i'm assuming that's because the pipes may have still had a little moisture in them.
