I have a 1999 Ford Contour, I just bought it and drove it home, the next day I toke it out and it quit & now wont start back up. It has spark and it has fuel. Also the fuel pump is working. I am wondering, WILL THE CAR STILL FIRE IF THERE IS NO TIMING BELT? OR IF THE TIMING BELT IS OFF? Please help?

& is there such thing as having 1 or 2 fuses blow, that the car wont start? If so then what fuses are they?

Now, I can't cook anything. This happened before, & I called the maintenance man to help solve the problem. It was like magic! He used some sort of spray that looked like WD-40, but I wasn't sure what it was.

Another time, I saw him & asked him what he used, & he said, "Some kind of spray you use to clean the engine (or he may have said tires) of your car that helps get rid of the grease I don't know the name of it.", or something like that.

So, I've been trying to clean the house. I have to microwave everything since I can't cook. I researched online & asked around here on Y!A if WD-40 was what he was probably talking about since he said he didn't know the name of it. WD-40 has the website where it advertises over 2,000 uses. & it did mention about being able to use it on the oven & the stove.

Just now, I read the directions (I have reading comprehension problems) & sprayed it on there. I think I sprayed WAY too much. & I read ONCE again, & it said it was flammable & not to use near pilots.

I feel like my life is ruined, & I'm afraid to go to sleep. I'm gonna have the light on. I think I made a HUGE mistake. I also feel afraid that if the house gets caught on fire, & I DO survive, then I might get evicted.

I feel so HORRIBLE. I don't mean to sound dramatic. But I'm just saying how I feel about the situation. I suffer anxiety disorder.

I'm staying w my sons in Wine Cntry in Central Calif. & I'm going for part-time work in retail, for which I've had 20 yrs. exp.. I'm on disability thru Social Security & that's all I get (8/mo). I buy the 'house' 5 in groc. ea month & now I'm healing from a broken ankle, I do the cooking most of the time too. I've found a nice apt for 0/mo (it's 'affordable housing' thru the Salvation Army, but have to have a job in order to move in. Last July my 2 grown sons wouldn't leave me in another state bcz I'd be without anyone to care about me, so, I drove my car while one son drove a truck and we made it down. I noticed he became angry at me all the time, bcz of little things....one not so little---> I was driving my car a little irradically; I knew I was, but I also knew I was pushing it to keep up with him (I haven't done well driving over 4 hours a day for 10 years or so.) BACK TO THIS SITUATION: Six weeks later I broke my ankle in a grocery store on half-melted ice from a broken bag aomeone dropped. Since then, I've been lan invalid (unwillingly)..and they've been my caretakers (willingly or not); and I feel very much in the way. The market is huge chain and I have a claim filed, but they're fighting it & it'll take awhile. My sons criticize me and tell me I'm doing things wrong (G**, I'm sorry); One is coming up to me nearly nightly and tells me he's sorry he was so rough on me that day, and the other is telling him to lighten up on me (he's the one who doesn't talk much).
It doesn't help to know they don't mean it, and I shouldn't take it personally---it still stings BAD. I'm doing all I can to find a place of my own to move to, and to find a job (I couldn't afford the apts.unless I got a job anyway) A little while ago, I was told by the one I came down here with (for the umteenth time) that I walk around like I'm DRUNK...with my eyelids closed, and I appear 20 years older than I am. (Again, G**, I'm sorry). One thing I'm criticized for is my eyes closing all the time. I've been diagnosed as "Anemic", but they can't prescribe a med for it. (my Iron is waaaaaaaaaaay up, but my "Red Blood cells" are waaaaaaaaaaaaaay down.) Maybe I need an eyelid 'lift'....?
Until they figure that out, there's little I can do. My eyes are heavy ALL THE TIME...and fear from breaking another bone (and being STUCK here with them), makes me walk very slow---so I appear to be older. (AGAIN, "G**, I'm sorry!).

Without maleigning my sons too much, let me say on their behalf that the one who has the house is very giving and says little to me, except when he does he's a little gruff (because he's the Grizzly Bear of the family. The other one goes out of his way to make my life better. He's kept the fire burning everyday to keep me warm so I don't get sick. The cabin has no heat except that fire, and he's kept it going.
But, I'd like to ask another question-in-a-quesion...if it's not to much:
do you all know how hard it is to go on a job interview with a broken ankle? One H.R. manager of a major department store takes my phone calls, bcz she knows about my broken ankle and knows I'm POSITIVELY in my attutude.. Xmas help isn't what I want, bcz I don't want to be let go and have to face 0 rent out of 0 income a couple of months down the road.
But, it really hurts to have my sons bark at me (or not speak to me) when they take off and come back and I've let the fire die down....or something else like that. What should I do? I'm spending all of my time on the computer looking for a job & an apt. & the one who leases this cabin said today that he only sees me on the computer all the time (when we were 'talking' about my exercising (he was doubting that I take the time to exercise)....I DO!!!.
I know they love me...and are concerned for my welfare...but, they're still very rough speaking to me when I don't do what they think I should. I feel like I'm being abused.
I sleep on the couch (it's my "ROOM"), and am forced to hear about it (their complaining). If I don't want to see sports, and their coming & going, I have no way of getting out of it...bcz my couch is smack in the middle of the living-room and I can't have any privacy on my phone calls (jobs, or not), because the volume has to be turned waaaaaaaaaaay up..and I don't dare ask for them to turn it down. So, I take my phone in the freezing cold bathroom. & I don't DARE say anything about that either...I've asked if the volume can be turned down a little, and I'm reminded that it's my son's house and if he wants it turned up, that's what it will be. What do I do to make it through this?

Every year, my fire department holds a Christmas parade where each of the companies decorate their apparatus with elaborate light-up panels on the side of the trucks. Now we also have a department bus that we also like to decorate and run in the parade. The thing is, we've used the same decorations for the past 3 years or so, we think it's time for a change. Curious if I have a case against a negligent landlord. Here's the details: We moved into a rental house. Within a few days, we had PG&E come out and show us how to use the pilot light on heater. He said the gas heater was never cleaned in 50 years. He cleaned it as much as he could. Later that day, it caught fire. It blew smoke into our 6 month-old baby's room. There was a smoke detector in it, but it never went off (we tested it, and it did go beep). Fire trucks came and fixed furnace. We had a pro heater company come out,and said the hole thing was a health hazad - the dirtiest heater he's ever seen, electrical tape holding the ducts together, holes in pipes, plugged up gas stems (he said it could have exploded since it was collecting gas), and on and on. Landlord never installed all the fire alarms, and the ones installed didn't work. Also, water heater had an outtake for the fumes that was removed, so it was pushing carbon dioxide into house. Issues with electrical too. Thoughts?

I collect M&M figures so I thought it would be kinda cool to paint the room in primary colors with the carpet being red obviously with the 4 walls in blue, green, yellow and orange. What do you think is that too many different colors? This room with be used mainly as a home office. All of the furniture in the room is black, wrought iron and all of the decor in the room, will be M&M figures, etc of the various primary colors. What do you think?

Dear Mom & Dad,

Our Scoutmaster told us to write to our parents in case you saw the flood on TV and are worried. We are okay. Only one of our tents and 2 sleeping bags got washed away. Luckily, none of us got drowned because we were all up on the mountain looking for Chad when it happened.

Oh yes, please call Chad's mother and tell her he is okay. He can't write because of the cast. I got to ride in one of the search and rescue jeeps. It was neat. We never would have found Chad in the dark if it hadn't been for the lightning.

Scoutmaster Don got mad at Chad for going on a hike alone without telling anyone. Chad said he did tell him, but it was during the fire so he probably didn't hear him.

Did you know that if you put gas on a fire, the gas will blow up? The wet wood didn't burn, but one of the tents did and also some of our clothes. David is going to look weird until his hair grows back.

We will be home on Saturday if Scoutmaster Don gets the car fixed. It wasn't his fault about the wreck. The brakes worked okay when we left. Scoutmaster Don said that with a car that old you have to expect something to break down; that's probably why he can't get insurance.

We think it's a neat car. He doesn't care if we get it dirty, and if it's hot,sometimes he lets us ride on the fender. It gets pretty hot with 10 people in a car. He let us take turns riding in the trailer until the highway patrol man stopped and talked to us.

Scoutmaster Don is a neat guy. Don't worry, he is a good driver. In fact, he is teaching Terry how to drive on the mountain roads where there isn't any traffic. All we ever see up there are logging trucks.

This morning all of the guys were diving off the rocks and swimming out in the lake. Scoutmaster Don wouldn't let me because I can't swim, and Chad was afraid he would sink because of his cast, so he let us take the canoe across the lake. It was great. You can still see some of the trees under the water from the flood.

Scoutmaster Don isn't crabby like some scoutmasters. He didn't even get mad about the life jackets. He has to spend a lot of time working on the car so we are trying not to cause him any trouble.

Guess what? We have all passed our first aid merit badges. When Dave dived into the lake and cut his arm, we got to see how a tourniquet works.

Wade and I threw up, but Scoutmaster Don said it probably was just food poisoning from the leftover chicken. He said they got sick that way with food they ate in prison. I'm so glad he got out and became our scoutmaster.

He said he sure figured out how to get things done better while he was doing his time. By the way, what is a pedal-file?

I have to go now. We are going to town to mail our letters and buy some more beer. Don't worry about anything, we are fine.

It is crazy that a female can be in the military without meeting battle military requirments. In some warfare (like some situations in Iraq & WWII) any soldier may be called on to fight, from a cook to a truck driver or mechanic. Obviously it is better to have soldiers that all can meet the same minimum fighting requirments rather than thinking it is ok to place inferior soldiers in non-combat positions. Battle lines can change rapidly. It is insane to allow not only women but pregnant women in the military. Must I even explain the stupidity of that? Women in the military & police & fire departments have to meet much lower standards which makes them greatly inferior to the men in those positions. (I know the word inferior is not politically correct but it fits and is used in a factual manner) Those are important jobs & the most efficient & safe way to do them & staff them should trump creating hiring opportunities for women & enforcing the equality myth.
To be a member of a professional basketball team you must be able to play basketball well. Many other people contribute to the team as in the bus drivers and cooks but only those that play the game are members of the team. The same thing should apply for police forces and fire departments and the military. All of those position require size and strength and boldness that is rare in women. Many men are turned away from those positions in favor of inferior female candidates. Due to the ZOG never ending wars for Israeli security (at the expense of U. S. security or is it the Jew S. A.?) it is true that there is a problem finding enough fools to serve as slaves in the military as the system wants. Even then one must understand how women negativily effect the troops. The ways they hurt the military forces are too numerous to go into but a little reflection on the nature of women & the nature of war & you will get the picture.

I bought & tore down a neihbors has last year that caught on fire. Where the foundation was there is no top soil. The weeds have taken over. I want to get some top soil trucked in so I can plant grass but, won't the weeds just poke though the topsoil and destory my new lawn? I could put weed & feed down before the topsoil to kill the weeds but, even know it is supposed to kill weeds and not grass I think it would also kill the new grass seedlings (my father tried somthing similar and that seemed to be the case). Ant suggestions on how to build my lawn??

Last week my ML's 320 engine broke.. When I started it in the afternoon, it sounded like it was not firing on all cylinders and my engine light was blinking. The engine ran very rough for a minute and then it stopped. Towed it to a mechanic and found out that the exhaust valve broke off on it and it damaged the piston and the cylinder.. Got a used engine and put it in, started it up and took it for a test drive. Drove 1/2 mile and something let go in that engine. It has a big knocking sound in it.. Checked the codes and it showed that it was not firing on cylinder 1 & 4... Does anyone know what could cause both of the engines to have almost the same problem, or could this be just a coincident. I still don't know what exactly happened to the new engine but it sounds like a valve or a connecting rod is loose or broken.. Actually my mechanic started the truck this morning and the knocking sound went away for 30 seconds and it came back on... Any ides? Would a electronic problem in the truck cause some internal damage like this?

I had to break the glass & use one once to help put out a car engine that was on fire in front of the building.

Patti - that is interesting... We had training where I worked by the FD -- a huge tray with several gallons of blazing gasoline - some could not put it out w/the wall extinguisher..
it is actually not that easy... since you must get under the flames & heat.

went to dealership after former saleman from another dealership called and ask if i wanted to trade up he was now manager at this one. He found 2 autos a truck for my husband and a commander for me. test drove & liked them price was right.signed paper at 9pm picked up truck next am 6-14 next day a loud noise from air-- no prob we fix kept from 6-15to
6-24 I kept the truck for 5 days there was a progressive popping noise when I turned and braked the jeep was 2007 with 18,056 miles. After complaining and explaining I talked with GM and they said they'd get me another vehicle the manager was fired a week and 4 days i called to check & when i went in to check it the story changed they were trading the truck & payments go up I had to let them fix the orig truck that still sat not fixed It's july 17 my truck is still at dealership they don't know what's wrong Payment due 7-13 I drove 6days just bought a truck and have to pay to get to work can't take care kids needs STRESSED!!

okayy so for christmas i bought my boyfriend a new wallet & cd holder to go on his viser of his truck.

i knew he would like it.

WELLL. yesterday, the road was wet & he went around a turn, lost control, hit a tree. & his truck caught on fire! his truck is totaled.

so now, the cd holder isnt gonna do no good! im still gonna give it to him, but i think im gonna feel bad. should i buy him sonething else after christmas to make up for it?

Does anyone know anyone that might help us get our Van back on the road, unfortunately it does NOT run at all now? We are in a very rural part of AZ in an extremely poor community. Our van allowed us to transport the disabled elderly in their wheelchairs to stores and other locations that allowed them to survive on their low monthly incomes of 0 and under. It is an old 1967 step van that allowed us to stand up in it making it a bit easier to aid these disabled seniors in wheelchairs. There has been NO body locally that is able to provide us with any assistance, in the repairs needed. We are over 40 miles (round trip) to a market and 100 miles (RT) to major shopping center, Hospital & doctor. Our area had FIRE victims of AZ's greatest FIRE in 2002. Many NEVER received any assistance from FEMA, SBA, HUD, USDA, Red Cross, etc. to repair their damaged homes. They were told they were "TOO POOR" to get HELP. Some have NOT had any electric power or running water for almost 4 years. HELP??

OUR HISTORY US:
We have been together off and on for 9years (Mostly on..just broke up for a week here and there.) I'm 30, he's 32. The first few years had some really bad times because of fights but the good times were So good & like perfect bliss. We both were so passionate about eachother & we always said that we made eachother "crazy"-meaning crazy in love. We always had a very awesume sex life together.
The bad: He was a very jealous person even though he was always the one talking to other girls lol go figure huh...wanted to have his cake &eat it too. But he is such a smooth talker & has always told me he loves me so much etc.. etc... I never was a jealous person untill I got with him. After I caught him talking to other girls I became very jealous and paranoid,almost obsessesed. I was always snooping &thinking he was lieing. So those are a lot of the reasons we used to fight so much back then. Oh also he used to drink way too much & go to bars all the time, but never wanted to take me because he would get so jealous of other men looking at me & that he would just be hanging with his guy friends & they don't bring their women.

(All of that stuff happened before we were married though. ) So I did go back to him and we got married soon after.
Here's how he proposed: He's a firefighter & one day he called me &asked if I would come hang out with him at his work, which I used to do a lot back then. When I got there I shoulda knowen somethin was up, His whole crew was outside all dressed up in their special uniforms & they were standing around the big red fire-truck.
My man walked me over to the basket on top of the ladder on the truck & said "U ever been in one of these? wanna go for a ride?" I said "Never been in one! Ya lets go!" We both got in &it started movin up,then he jumped out! I was like what! what's going on..The sun was just setting..it was perfect & the most Romantic thing that has ever happened to me! Especially because he just is Not a romantic gesture type guy!
They lowered the basket down level to him.He was on his knee & proposed. So I know he really loves me (no I was not pregnant lol.) & I have always loved him.
So Here's what happened recently:
Thursday we were talkin about payin the bills from bill payer online through his bank. He agreed to do because he is going over seas next month in military & he wants to make sure I pay the bills. So he didn't have the service yet, & I said I would help him sign up for itI started to turn on the computer..(I was happy because Ive tried to get him 2use bill payer forvever!!! It saves time,gas,money ...we live sorta far out of the city..and he always complains about driving & never having enough time). Before I could get logged on computer I got interupted by a phone call from my school.As I was talking he got up, grabbed the bills & said "I'll be back Im just gonna go get money orders & pay these bills..we can set up bill pay another time"..I looked at him like WTF & I could'nt say anything because the lady from my school was talking! He said quickly as he walked out the door "Plus I already put stamps on all of the envelopes" I thought Oh well maybe another time.
Friday a.m. I heard his phone alarm go off early.I tried to turn it off & clicked into his messages instead..then I got snooopy & saw a text from a # I did not know, it said "Is this Lisa?". I snooped more &saw another text from the same # saying "Hey"(It was from Thursday at 2pm..same time that he was convienently not home & out paying bills) I went through his outgoing texts..there was one from him to her that was worded weird, it said " Who are U at?" It made me curious because of the time frame and also because the way he said who are u at? Like maybe he meant where are you at?
I decided to call the number to see if I could figure out who it was.I was having a bad feeling about it. I blocked my #. No one answered but it went to voicemail & it was a girl. I recognized her name & voice she was a girl he had told me about years ago when I saw her name &number in his phone.He had said they'd gone to school together but that he didn't talk to her & he said he would erase her # & he did.
The thing that bugs me is that when I asked him who it was he kept saying he didn't know who it was until I said "Look I know who it is, it's Candice" Then he says" I just didn't recognize the number & that's why I texted asking who it was. I don't know why she texted me." However....
on Saturday morning I decided I would try calling her again without blocking my number & ask her what was going on.
So I tryed calling her and she did not answer.She called back later and asked if I was "Trisha" or some name that was not me. I said "No.." and I was shocked she called me back so I didn't say anything. She quickly said "Oh sorry I must have the wrong number" then she hung up. Later that night my hubby and I were having sex and my phone rang..it was her.I answered it and she said "is this Lisa" I said no..and my hubby was really annoyed and said "Just hang up!" So I did. then she called his phone! He ignored it. The next morning he gave me his pass code to look at his phone records. There really was no calls to her or texts excpet the ones I had seen before. What a mess. I guess he really was telling the truth. My guess is that this girl maybe wanted to be with my hubby but he wanted to stay with me. I am very relieved and feel a bit silly. I'm happy he gave me his pass code because it showed me that he wasn't hiding anything and made me gain more trust for him!Thank you everyone!!
Oh when she called back and my hubby and I were doing stuff I forgot to mention that it was 2:30 am! She also sounded really drunk..
Here's answer to one of the questions : He used to have her number programed in his phone a long time ago and that is probably how she had his number..I know they talked at one point years ago. Probably when we were having marriage problems and he was cheating. Maybe he was with her too back then..but I believe he really is being good to me now. It's hard to get past infidelity in a relationship.
