Sold a car and guy wants his money back. In islam what is right to do?
Ok, I had a car for sale, it has some problems so I listed it "as is" Someone called to look at it and immediatly wanted to buy it. So my husband and i went and let him see the car, test drive it twice AND we told him EVERYTHING that was wrong with the car, we didnt hide anything about it. So he bought it for 900 dollars and wrote his name on the title and he took the car to go switch the title. He called us a half hour later yelling and screaming saying "the car is on fire! the engine blew! you better give me my f**king money back or there will be serious problems! and threatening us. He knows we legally dont have to give him the money. personally i feel bad and want to give him the money for many reasons, he is young, in school, needs a car, and needs the money, But my husband insists that we put it for "as is" so we shouldnt give it back, and hes more mad about how the guy is talking to us. and there was nothing wrong with the engine, and we have driven it on the freeway alot and it was a reliable car. What is right in Islam? Please only islamic answers with proof thanks
Also, he left it on fire on the freeway to be towed then called us, so now we cant even re sell it for parts if we did give him the money back

He paid you money and you handed him the car. The car is now his. It is not your problem anymore. So don’t give him his money back.

let that be his problem. you told him exactly what was wrong with the car and he bought it. not your fault or your problem. you shouldn’t feel bad about it. don’t give him the money back.

Check with a lawyer and your imam, in that order. The first will tell you what legal rights you and the other party have, and the second will tell you what the right thing to do would be from a moral standpoint.
Personally, I think the kind thing to do would be to refund his money and try to forgive him for his attitude. But that’s just my own opinion.
