police report?
I made a mistake. I have three children. my three kids and I left home to go to our local store. I needed to buy three gallons of water and a gallon of milk. stupid me, my 1 year old baby was asleep. so I asked my 8 year old to stay in the car and watch over him. next thing you know, there was a fire truck and police. i did not get arrested. the officer got my information. checked my background and I was clear. i do not have criminal history. I know that.. I know what i did was very stupid. no excuse period. what i want to understand is. how does the system work. there is a police report done. I have a case number. I called to follow up and told that my case was not assigned to a detective at that moment. likw what i said. i was not arrested and no charges was charge on me. what will happen next. I am so worried. I have never got in trouble with the law. the officer that was there at the sence told me. that it was a warning....what will happen to my case once it is assigned????

Well, if it gets assigned, you will likely be prosecuted for neglect. It doesn’t sound like they are taking it seriously though, Hopefully, they will not assign it. It is good that you weren’t arrested, but that doesn’t mean that you won’t be charged. I was charged, but the police never arrested me at the scene (prescription fraud). Once it was assigned, then the process started and I had a warrant out for my arrest.

It will go to child services, you will probably get a home visit and have to explain this to them, like 12 times. However, since you do not have a record and I assume have never been reported to child services before, you will probably just be on file with the local child service division.
Worst case scenario, they will assign you to parenting class, one day thing and fine you.

Relax. You know it was a mistake and all they will do is have an investigator come over and ask you a couple of questions and thats it. Doesn’t sound like you are a bad parent. Relax they are not going to take your kids away if thats what you are worried about. Just live and learn.
